The Story of His Church List

Paul's First Missionary Journey

The church at Antioch grew so large that it took several teachers to minister to the people. Often these teachers met with Barnabas and Saul to pray for the work of the church.

One time as they prayed together, the Holy Spirit told them, "Release Barnabas and Saul for the work I have called them to do." And the

teachers understood that God wanted Barnabas and Saul to go to faraway countries and preach the gospel. The church at Antioch hated to see Barnabas and Saul leave, but they felt God had a special work for these two to do. Tender goodbyes were said after they had prayed together, and the two set off on their first missionary journey.

With them was Barnabas' nephew, John Mark.
