The Story of Jesus

Draw All Men Unto Me

During the feast the Greeks who had come to worship told Philip, "Sir, we would like to see Jesus." Because they were not Jews they could not enter the part of the temple where Jesus was teaching. They had to stay in the outside court, called the Court of the Gentiles.

Philip told Andrew that men from Greece wanted to see Jesus. Together

they went to tell Jesus.

Jesus told Philip and Andrew, "The hour is come that the Son of man should be glorified." The disciples did not understand what Jesus meant, for he was speaking of his death.

Jesus hated the thought of pain just as anyone does. He felt troubled that his time was so short. Prayerfully he said, "Father, save me from this hour." Remembering that his work would not be finished if he did not die for sinners, he added, "Father, glorify thy name." '

At that instant a voice from heaven answered, "I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again."

The people who stood near by heard the voice, but they could not understand the words. Some said, "It is thundering." Others replied "An angel spoke to him."

Jesus went on to say, "Now shall the prince of this world be cast out! And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me!"

He knew how he would die.
